To all club members, please look at the CRC Charity Ride event. We have added some details and a just-giving link for entries and support. It would be great to see as many riders as possible. Please feel free to share the Just-giving page in support of Beech Holme Tandem club.
CRC CHARITY RIDE 2017
This year’s Charity Ride will be held on Saturday, 8th July 2017 with rides starting from the Methodist Hall, Hallgate, Cottingham (the one used by Cycling UK/CTC). A little different this year, proposal is for three different rides….
Ride 1 – 06:00 hrs depart, 50 miles to Howden
Ride 2 – 09:30 hrs depart, 60 miles to Millington
Ride 3 – 15:00hrs depart, 50 miles to Hornsea
Support at Cottingham will be provided by Beech Holme Tandem Club but the Methodist Hall will only be open from 08:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs.
Donations – £20 entry for the day plus whatever else you can raise can be made direct to the Club account which is TSB Bank, Sort Code & A/C No. available on request (email@example.com) . This will ensure that all monies raised will go to the Charities and not into the coffers of Internet Charity Websites.
You can participate in all any single ride, any two rides, or even all three – whatever suits you.
FOGGY CLUB RIDE – 07/01/17
What better way to kick start the new year and make headway into your New Year resolutions ( let me guess … lose weight and improve fitness? …me too ! ) than to go for a bike ride.
Club rides had been suspended during the festive fortnight so we could all pile as much weight on as possible prior to our determination to start losing it.
I for one was racked with guilt at eating the best part of 2 Christmas cakes.
On reflection, however, I had decided I was a victim. It was, in fact, all Annette’s fault.
After all if she didn’t make the Christmas cakes I wouldn’t eat them. She practically forced those Christmas cakes down my neck ! That’s abuse.
In recognition of the fact that this was the first ride after a period of excess and over indulgence Chris had arranged a relatively short 37 mile ride from the Humber Bridge to Brigg and back.
We couldn’t avoid all unpleasantness though and on the return leg we would sample a few of the short and very sharp hills around the villages of Worlaby, Saxby and Horkstow.
Welcome to 2017 !

Riding on a cold crisp day can be a pleasure..
Today’s ride was much dryer than last week’s deluge ridden trip.
It started off with 31 riders in three groups, all following a similar route on the South Bank of the Humber.
On the way we passed quite a number of cyclists but seemed to have chosen a similar route as the Brigg cycling club, it was nice to see them.
For some there was a quick coffee stop at Caistor where large quantities of bacon & coffee were consumed before heading home.
Cold but fun..
CLUB RIDE TO FITLING – 06/11/16
In the summer there is very little motivation required to go for a bike ride. In warm and sunny weather you can’t wait to don the lycra and get out there and pedal.
Some people even jet off to sunnier climes such as Majorca and Tenerife where the conditions are so perfect they are transformed into cycling gods biking near 100 mile bike rides day after day.
( Note to the Missus : I’m not going Annette. The plane will go into the sea like a dart ! )
Hull in November is a very different story.
